ICT for Development (ICT4D) Research
It is now evident that a systematic research leads better and sustainable planning, adoption and implementation of different development interventions. This includes-
i. need assessment,
ii. project proposal,
iii. pilot study to evaluate the feasibility of the project,
iv. monitoring and evaluation research, and
v. impact study.
While there is much hope of implementing various development interventions in rural-remote-regional areas in developing countries, systematic pre/post evaluation/impact research on the intervention is often ignored. Though Non Government Organizations (NGOs) or local community organisations conduct such research using their in-house researcher, their findings are not beyond criticism of self-reporting, success stories, and lack of theorizing.
Bearing these in mind, an external identify as consultant(s) of ICT-led development research is useful and relevant for the acceptability and reliability of research findings in particular and the intervention in general. BB's consultancy services (see above points) would assist NGOs, public/private policy makers academicians those focusing on socio-economic development interventions especially in regional-rural-remote areas in developing countries.
